Hollow Knight Gets a Sequel
Team Cherry has announced that Hollow Knight: Silksong, which was supposed to be a DLC for Hollow Knight, will now be released as a standalone, full game, and is the sequel to the action-platformer. Silksong stars Hornet who wields a spear. The game doesn’t have a definite launch date yet, but according to Team Cherry, Silksong will feature an entirely new kingdom with new enemies, quests, towns, bosses, and many more. It will be available on PC and Switch first, while Xbox One and PS4 will follow later on.
Next Fortnite Battle Pass is Free for All Players
Epic Games has announced that Fortnite players will be able to get the Season 8 Battle Pass absolutely free, but there’s a catch! In order for players to get it free, they need to complete 13 “Overtime” challenges, and they have until February 27th to do so. The Battle Pass typically costs 950 V-Bucks, or roughly 10 Dollars in real money. It provides 100 in-game rewards such as skins and emotes, weapon customizations, and much more.
Mortal Konbat 11 Names New Confirmed Fighter
NetherRealm has confirmed another character who will be joining Mortal Kombat 11’s roster. The latest confirmed character is Jade, and she’s a returning fighter. She made her debut back in 1993 in Mortal Kombat 2. She was a secret character that players can take on after solving clues. She became officially part of the roster for the first time in Mortal Kombat 3 in 1995. She was last seen in the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot. Mortal Kombat 11 releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on April 23rd, with a Switch release in May.
Rainbow Six Siege Unveils Two New Australian Operators
Ubisoft has finally lifted the veil on the new operators joining Rainbow Six Siege! As teased before, the new Operators are from Australia, and they are named Gridlock and Mozzie. Gridlock is an attacker who can lock down areas using caltrops and then ambush enemies. Mozzie, on the other hand, is a defender who focuses mainly on counter-intelligence and can hide the team from attackers. They will be fully unveiled on February 17th during the Rainbow Six Siege Invitational in Montreal.
Dragon Quest 11’s Content on Switch Might Not Come to Other Platforms
In the recently concluded Nintendo Direct, it was confirmed that Dragon Quest 11 will be coming to the Switch. The Switch version will come with all currently available DLC plus some brand new stuff such as new chapters and retro visuals. However, it seems the new content will not be coming to other platforms. This came after Square Enix responded with “undecided” to a Wall Street Journal tech reporter’s question on whether the new content will be coming to PS4.
Apex Legends Valentine’s Day Celebration Comes With Three New Cosmetics
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Respawn added three V-Day items to Apex Legends. One of the three items is free, while the other two can be purchased in the game’s Store. The free item is the Account Badge which will require players to revive or respawn another player from February 13 – February 19. The other two items are the Epic longbow Skin called “Through the Heart,” and the Legendary Pathfinder banner frame.
Far Cry Sells Better Than Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft Reports
Ubisoft released its third quarter 2018-2019 financial report, and revealed some surprising news. According to Ubisoft, Far Cry is selling better as compared to Assassin’s Creed. The report shows that Far Cry 5 outsold Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and that it is the company’s fourth best-selling video game of 2018. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is in tenth place. Ubisoft did not share specific numbers.
GRID Autosport Comes to the Switch This Summer
Codemasters’ GRID Autosport will also be heading to the Nintendo Switch. This was announced during the recent Nintendo Direct. The game is scheduled for release this Summer, and will come with all previously released DLC plus a new control system which was specifically adapted for the Switch’s Joy-Con. GRID Autosport first released in 2014 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and is the ninth installment in the long-running TOCA series.
The Division 2 Has More Preorders on PC Than the Original, Despite Epic Release
Back in January, Ubisoft surprised everyone when it announced that The Division 2 won’t be launching to Steam, and will instead be launching on the Epic Games Store. Despite this, it looks like pre-orders are going well for The Division 2, as it recorded more pre-orders as compared to the original game, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said. He added that “preorders on the Ubisoft Store are six times higher.” He also further explained that making the move to Epic Games allows them to make more money as compared to staying with Steam.
GTA Online Offering a Hot New Car and Bonuses for Valentine’s
Love is in the air in GTA Online! To celebrate, Rockstar is offering some bonuses for its players in the game. The bonuses include a free t-shirt, as well as a new car which is the the Declasse Vamos. There’s also double GTA cash and RP from now until February 20th. All “Be My Valentine” content is also discounted at 30% off this week, and this includes all Valentine’s Day clothing and the Albany Roosevelt and Valor.
Fallout 76 Gets New Quests and Events
If you’re on Fallout 76 and you’re looking for other things to do, you’re in luck as Bethesda is set to roll out a series of updates. This will specially be interesting for those who are interested in PvE. The updates will be called “Wild Appalachia” and Bethesda said it is their “first big content drop of the year and spans the next few months. In addition to new quests, events, and challenges it will also bring new content to C.A.M.P.s, Crafting, and much more.” We are yet to find out when these updates will roll out.
Black Ops 4’s Blackout Will Get Vehicles in Next Update
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout Mode is poised to receive two new vehicles in its next update. Soon you will be able to cruise around in a muscle car and police SUV in search of the victims of your onslaught. These vehicles can be spotted in a video tweeted by PlayStation titled “The Chase Awaits.” Activision continues to hail this incoming update as “the biggest Black Ops 4 update yet” which consequently peaks fan interest. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Ubisoft Explains Why they Chose Epic for The Division 2
Ubisoft recently shared its reason for having The Division 2 part ways with Steam in favor of the Epic storefront. CEO Yves Guillemot expressed that the switch was due to the company wanting to increase player exposure to their own store. He added that they are supporting a partner that greatly values their games and provides materially better terms. He never spoke of controversy caused by the move, instead, he shared that the deal is a long-term positive for Ubisoft.
Dataminers Discover Next Apex Legend Weapon Could Be Called Havoc
It appears Respawn teased a new weapon on its way to Apex Legends. A weapon named Havoc was uncovered by the fans in the game’s first patch, which dropped on the night of the 13th. In that update, weapons expert Bangalore was given several new voice lines, in one of the lines she made reference to the Havoc. The thing is, the weapon is not in the game, but fans are speculating that there would be no reason for it to be referenced if it was not headed to the game. However, Respawn has neither confirmed nor denied the claims.
Dead Cells Gets an Update with Custom Game Mode, and More
Motion Twin dropped an update for their Roguelike game Dead Cells, which adds a new game mode and enhancements. The new custom game mode awards players the ability to unlock or re-lock items. The devs also enabled special gameplay adjustments and reformed the rules of play assuring more flexibility. The update also seeks to re-balance the way a player’s HP scaling for Brutality and Tactic, ensuring players at higher levels have more HP. Auto-scaling mechanic has been removed among many other adjustments.
The King of Fighters’ Mai Shiranui Joins Dead or ALive 6
Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja revealed the contents for Dead or Alive 6‘s Season Pass 1. Among the items in the Season Pass you can find the beautiful kunoichi Mai Shiranui which is one of two characters from The King of Fighters 14 destined for the fighting game. Mai Shiranui is a fan favorite who has made an appearance in Dead or Alive 5 as a DLC. She has certainly left a good impression and now fans look forward to playing the character when the game launches on March 1, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Edge of Eternity’s The Plains of Solna Update Rolls Out Next Month
Edge of Eternity’s second chapter commences on March 6, 2019 when The Plains of Solna update launches on Steam. Said update is the second of the four major expansions that have been announced for the game’s early access. It seeks to add hours of new story content and expand the game world. Players will to be greeted by a cute companion named Nekaroo that can carry you on your adventure. Players can also expect new monsters, weapons, quests, new characters, and more surprises along the way.
Black Ops 4’s Casino Map Teased
A tweet was recently published from the Call of Duty official twitter account bearing a short video titled “Always bet on Black.” This is believed to be Treyarch teasing yet another multiplayer map that will be included in the next Black Ops 4 update. The video showed a clip of multiple computer screens that display slot machines, confirming that it will be a casino map. The update will be dropping on the 19th of February, 2019. Ubisoft is Planning to Release 3 to 4 Triple A Titles This Year Until March 2020
Ubisoft is showing no sign of slowing down as they plan to release 3 to 4 triple A games between April 2019 and March 2020. This came to light during Ubisoft’s recent financial call. They promised 3 games but never made mention of the titles. Fans, of course, wasted no time and commenced the speculation process. The chief guesses thus far are Skull and Bones, and Watch Dogs 3. The third guess would have been Assassin’s Creed had the developers not confirmed that no iterations of the title will drop this year.
Adventure Game Afterlight Announced, Kickstarter Planned for April
Afterlight will start its funding through Kickstarter in April of this year. The developers released a statement sharing their desire of having “the player in front of unique puzzles and environments of extraterrestrial beauty.” Not much of the gameplay was shown in the video that accompanied the announcement. However, based on the video and images provided we can conclude that the environment will be just as beautiful and extraterrestrial as promised. The game is aiming for a late 2020 release for PC.
