Jiren is Coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ

Uploaded scans of Japan’s Shonen Jump magazine show that Jiren, the main antagonist of Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power arc, is coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ. Bandai Namco already teased his arrival with a tweet saying that “the warrior from Universe 11 is joining the fight”. All that’s needed now is an official announcement, which is most likely going to happen during the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Finals. The event takes place on January 26th to 27th.


Epic Games won’t Release Fortnite Updates Near Events for Pros

In an effort to put a stop to awkward situations where Fortnite pros are caught off guard by major updates during events, Epic games has announced that they’ll be making changes to how they schedule updates around tournaments. Starting with the upcoming Fortnite Summer Smash on January 26th, updates will be scheduled a few days to a week before a tournament begins. Weekly updates will still continue, but release timings will be adjusted whenever tournaments are scheduled to happen.


The Hong Kong Massacre Release Date Announced

The top-down shooter inspired by Hong Kong action movies called The Hong Kong Massacre just got a new trailer that reveals when the game will finally arrive. Five years after it was first announced, we’ll finally get to play it come Janurary 22nd. The game mixes the brutal gunplay of Hotline Miami but adds in a bullet-time mechanic that allows players to slow time down for short periods to allow players a chance to dodge bullets and aim better. You can also wishlist it now on Steam.


Steam has Restored Its Star Control: Origins Page

After being removed from Steam and GOG following a DMCA takedown notice, Star Control Origins has mysteriously popped back up on Steam. When asked on Twitter about it, Stardock CEO Brad Wardell said he could not discuss it publicly. He did however say that the ongoing dispute has Stardock, Valve and GOG on one side and Star Control creators Fred Ford and Paul Reiche on the other. A previous request made by Stardock to require injunctions for further DMCA takedown filings was rejected by court.


Forza Horizon 4 Tops Seven Million Players Since Launch

Playground Games being quiet on social media might have you thinking that Forza Horizon 4’s hype has died down, but it’s actually the complete opposite. Forza Motorsport’s Twitter account has put out a congratulatory tweet directed to Playground for an impressive milestone — passing the seven million player count on Forza Horizon 4. The open-world racer passed two million players in less than two weeks and is still going strong three months after it first released.


Piranha Plant Joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in February

Nintendo announced that the game’s first downloadable character, Piranha Plant will be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate soon. The developers reported that the Pirahna Plant will be a free DLC fighter for players who purchase the game prior to January 31, 2019. Players who purchased physical copies of the game will need to claim their Nintendo Gold Points manually before the 31st in order to get the new character. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently available, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.


Check Out Some Sora Selfies from Kingdom Hearts 3

Square Enix recently posted a screenshot which shows a selfie taken by Kingdom Hearts III’s protagonist, Sora. The developers released 20 images in total. The bulk of the images captured were of Sora and the gang. There were also images of Remy who is a character from Ratatouille. Some of the pictures showed a few of the mini-games that players will be able to play when the game releases. Kingdom Hearts III is scheduled to be released on January 29 for PS4 and Xbox One.


Hildryn and Wisp are the Next Upcoming Warframes

Digital Extremes divulged that the next two warframes will be Hildryn and Wisp. Both warframes have very interesting concepts however, Hildryn has definitely hogged the spotlight. Hildryn is of a bulkier stature and focuses more on shield and power. Hildryn is the first warframe to come with a signature weapon that isn’t a primary, secondary, or melee. Wisp on the other hand has not much info shared about her beyond her concept art. Check the warframe official website for more details on incoming updates.


Sniper Class Revealed in New Breach Trailer

QC Games has released a new Sniper Class for their action-RPG, Breach.The Sniper class uses magical boosts to ensure precise shots in many ways. The boosts from the Vortex Slug, offers a slow moving shot that creates a vortex that pulls enemy payers together. There are many lethal combinations available to players that employ the boosts appropriately. Timing is crucial in using sniper abilities, good timing enables you to eliminate your foes effectively and efficiently.


Steam Early Access Release Date for Foundation Announced

Foundation has received its Steam Early Access date. The early access is scheduled to go live February 1, 2019. It will included improved graphics for all new environment visuals and effects. This will serve to further immerse you into the new simulation city- builder game. Players can also expect a new version of the villager character. The early access also comes with improved housing system that accounts for residential density. Lastly, there will be a new playable map named the Valley.


PC Demo for The Mystery of Wooley Mountain Out Now

Lightfoot Brothers issued a trailer for their point and click strategy game, The Mystery of Woolley Mountain. The trailer showed some gameplay and content that provides prospecting players the gyst of the game. The demo is currently available and accessible through the game’s steam page. Expect a colourful world, Family friendly content, age appropriate humour, striking 2D graphics and a very captivating story of five scientists and their adventures. The game comes to PC and Switch in Spring 2019.


New Cyberpunk Game Disjunction Announced

First-time developers Ape Tribe Games were able to announce their first ever game called Disjunction. This is a cyberpunk, action, stealth video game that looks like and feels like a mash-up of Hotline Miami and Deus Ex. It features good writing as well as a pretty good and unique art style plus some stealth mechanics that rely on shadows cast by objects around you. Disjunction is set to launch this year, but no specific time has been given. A demo is available in their site to download and play.


New System Shock Remake Trailer Previews Game’s Final Art

Nightdive Studios has released a new trailer for the upcoming System Shock remake that gives us a peek at some the game’s final environment art. The video is two and a half minutes long and shows the protagonist exploring poorly-lit hallways filled with colorful buttons and futuristic machinery. His trusty hammer is at the ready, but unfortunately we don’t see any combat. You can follow the game’s development on Kickstarter and Nightdive’s own site.


Duplicate Cards Problem In Magic: The Gathering Arena Fixed With New Update

In Magic: The Gathering Arena, players are only allowed to play four copies of a single card in a deck. There are times though that you would get five of the same card and thanks to the new duplicate protection update, your fifth card can be an alternate reward. For players who are able to get duplicate rare or mythic cards, the system will automatically swap them to a card of equal value. But if you’ve already gathered all of them, you can change them for the game’s premium currency which are the gems.


Meeple Station will have Players Building and Managing Space Stations

A new management and building game takes well-established gameplay mechanics from the likes of Dwarf Fortress and Rimworld and puts them in outer space — as in on space stations. Meeple Station will have players taking on the task of taking over a small space station and turning it into a flourishing space hub of mining, trading, exploration and a whole lot more. Anthem won’t run at 1080p/60 FPS on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro – Mike Gamble

Anthem will not be able to run at 1080p 60 FPS on both the Xbox One X and Playstation 4 Pro. Lead producer Mike Gamble made this statement as a reply to a fan asking over on Twitter. Gamble says that they are prioritizing the game’s visuals and may consider prioritizing frame rates only afterwards. This seems like the logical choice as Anthem is not meant to be a competitive shooter, in which frame rates do matter, but rather and immersive and atmospheric experience.


Epic Says Fortnite will NOT be Playable on Soulja Boy’s Next Console

Soulja Boy has been cranking knock-off consoles on his online store for some time now. Of course, this has been met with harsh criticism. However, he recently took it a notch higher by claiming that his next console would be able to play Fortnite. Talking to DualShockers, Epic Games’ senior PR manager Nich Chester shut down the claim however by simply stting that Fortnite cannot be played on rooted or jailbroken devices due to its anti-cheat measures. Tough luck, Soulja Boy.


Warframe Developers Say That Cross Play Would Be Their Highest Risk

Warframe is such a successful game for both PC and consoles and what the players are asking for now is the option for cross-play. This request has been addressed by the game’s developers at Digital Extremes but says that this will be “one of the highest-risk” things that they would be doing. They said that they are open to do it, but it is something that they cannot do immediately. One thing that they said they could do at the moment is shared progress between platforms like shared items.


Original Uncharted was Supposed to Play More Like Classic Tomb Raider

In an interview with Ars Technica, Lucas Pope revealed that Uncharted would have played very differently if its earlier design had not been changed. He was working for Naughty Dog at the time and recalled how Uncharted had more of a Tomb Raider control system at first. However, when Gears of War launched, they took inspiration from its design and ended up doing a complete overhaul of the control system just six months before release. Gears itself took inspiration from Resident Evil 4 and Kill Switch.


Here’s What’s Different Between the Anthem Demo and the Full Game

Anthem executive producer Mark Darrah took to Twitter to enumerate some of the differences between the Anthem demo and the full release. For one, since the demo will only feature one story arc, he believes the mission, stronghold and freeplay balance “will be off a bit”. A few things were also renamed in the main game for clarity. The demo will also start players off somewhere in the middle of the game, won’t feature a pilot picker, and no tutorial. Check out his tweet for the complete list.


Resident Evil 2 Preload Now Live for Xbox One Players

Xbox One players can start preloading Resident Evil 2 ahead of its January 25th launch. Interestingly, the game only requires a 21.3 gigabyte download on the Xbox One, while it requires 26 gigabytes on Steam. Preload for the Playstation 4 has not started yet, so there’s no confirmation of how big the download size will be for the platform. Also, it’s important to remember that most games nowadays get a day one patch for last minute fixes, so the download size may still get bigger.


Mortal Kombat 11 Reveals Fatalities Trailer

WB Games shared a new trailer that features the fatalities of Mortal Kombat 11. If you are a fan of the game, then you must know the words “Finish Him!” by heart. The new trailer shares with us different finishing blows with the most standoffish being the ones that decapitate the losing character. There are a variety to see as well like face ripping, blood spikes, blood sythes, yanking out the spinal cord plus the skull. It’s pretty gory stuff, but those are the things that Mortal Kombat is known for.
