Path of Exile’s Betrayal Expansion Now Live
Path of Exile has released their newest expansion called Betrayal. It introduces a new NPC named Jun Ortoi. She has her own side-quest beating the Immortal Syndicate until she knows who is the one on top. After three months, she will be joining the other NPCs from the last three leagues. Along with the new NPC will come some new loot, new skill gems, plus some general balance tweaks. The patch notes for the expansion is quite long and you can see the whole list in the game’s official site.
Mortal Kombat 11 Announced, Launches April 2019
A new Mortal Kombat game has been announced and it is coming by April of 2019! Mortal Kombat 11 features a new Custom Character Variation System which allows players to have creative control by making a customized character roster. More information will be available during a livestream on January 17, 7 PM UK on Twitch. Mortal Kombat 11 launches on April 23 available for PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One. Pre-orders are now available for $59.99. A Premium Edition is available for $99.99.
Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition Showcases Systems in New Trailer
Bandai Namco has announced that a re-release of the anime RPG Tales of Vesperia of 2008 will be happening! The announcement was done via a new trailer and it introduces Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition. This will focus on the systems used in battle plus both stat and gear management. Of course, the visuals have also been upgraded as well as the costumes. Two party members have also been added Flynn Scifo and Patty Fleur. Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition will launch on January 11.
Magic: The Gathering is Getting a Pro League
Publisher Wizards of the Coast has announced that Magic: The Gathering will be having a pro league! There will be 32 top players and all of them can vie for the prize of 10 million Dollars. This is not the total prize though but is the combined amount. Wizard also announced that the contracts of the players will be $75,000. This addresses the previous concerns about the Magic pros not getting paid enough. There could be a possibility that some retired players could come out of retirement because of this.
Fantasy Game The Pathless Revealed
From the developers of Abzu comes a new game called The Pathless. Developers Giant Squid made the announcement via a trailer. From a colorful ocean in Abzu, The Pathless will bring players to a moody forest. You will get to play as a Hunter who is a master of archery. Your mission is to dispell the curse of darkness that has engulfed the world. You will solve puzzles, test your skills in battle and bond with your eagle friend. The Pathless still doesn’t have an exact release date but will launch in 2019.
Epic Introduces The Block in Fortnite
A new area has been introduced by Epic for Fortnite and it is called The Block. This location is special as it will feature the map and structure creations of its users. Only the maps that were made in the new mode called Creative can be picked for The Block, with Epic choosing which one. Eligible maps must be 25×25 in tile area that can fit in the flat part of the map, memory must also be below 50,000. All the other things like the floor loot, chest, vehicle spawn and the like will be added by Epic.
Stranger Things: The Game Revealed
Stranger Things: The Game is happening, and fans of this Netflix series will definitely welcome this with open arms. Announced during The Game Awards, 2018, Stranger Things: The Game will be launching sometime next year for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It is currently being developed by Bonus XP. The game is set after the events of the show’s third season, which is yet to come out. As for its gameplay, it is a retro beat-em-up which you can play in co-op.
Subnautica Currently Free on Epic Games Store
The Epic Games Store is finally live and as promised, Epic is giving away a free game every two weeks! To celebrate the store’s launch, players can get the underwater survival game Subnautica for free. Take note, though, that this is available for a limited time only, so go to the Epic Games Store while this offer lasts! Subnautica is free to keep forever to anyone who downloads it from the Epic Games Store until December 27th.
THQ Nordic Reveals New BioMutant Gameplay Trailer
Biomutant by THQ Nordic has received a new gameplay trailer. It features a violent raccoon that has the ability to alter its own genetic material in order to have superpowers. You will get to see giant robots, bipedal trash pandas, a primordial jungle, a Sarlacc pit, and so much weird stuff that makes the game so interesting. Players are able to decode the genetic structure of their character depending on their playstyle with unique gears for each. Biomutant is set to launch by Summer 2019.
Rust Celebrates Anniversary with The Electric Anniversary Update
Rust is celebrating its fifth year with an update! The Electric Anniversary update is now live and as its name suggests, it contains items related to electricity like batteries, pressure pads, switches, timers, splitters, and other items that will allow players to use electricity for lights, CPUs, clocks, traps, and a lot more. Without the update, electricity is generated from solar panels and windmills. This update also includes a “censorship option” for streamers which makes their character wear underpants.
Anthem Gets Demo Sessions in January and February
EA has announced demo sessions for their upcoming game Anthem. The first one happens for VIPs in January, while there will be another one for the rest of us coming in February. Anthem’s VIP demo will take place from January 25-27, and will be open to players who pre-ordered the game, or is subscribed to EA Access or Origin Access. The free demo for everyone will take place from February 1-3. EA is also giving away free VIP demo codes to some who will sign up to their newsletter.
Super Meat Boy Forever Announced, But Won’t Come on Steam
Team Meat announced its next Super Meat Boy Game, Super Meat Boy Forever during the Kinda Funny Games Showcase. But unlike other games, this one won’t be heading to Steam. The game will instead be released to the Epic Games Store for PC, and it will be available to consoles as well. The studio confirmed that Super Meat Boy Forever will remain an Epic Games Store exclusive for a year. The team also added that the game’s mobile version won’t be coming, as it isn’t a priority at this time.
Square Enix Showcases More Kingdom Hearts 3 in Opening Movie Trailer
Square Enix has released a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3, and this time it features the game’s new theme song “Face My Fears” from Utada Hikaru and Skrillex. The Opening Movie trailer showcases a brief overview of the events in the series so far, “a sneak peek at how the epic adventure begins,” the Kingdom Hearts Twitter account says. The song is available for pre-order at the iTunes store, and will officially release January 18th.
Red Dead Online Gun Rush Mode Rumored
Red Dead Redemption 2 may be getting a new mode, if one Reddit user’s claims are proven to be true. The player posted an image on Reddit which shows Red Dead Redemption 2’s in-game menu. On the photo is a list of game modes, and among it is “Gun Rush.” The said mode has since been removed. Players replying on the original post speculate that this may be something similar to GTA Online’s Kill Quota where players start off with high-powered weapons then replaced with less powerful ones after each round.
The Banner Saga’s New Eternal Arena Mode Arrives December 12th
Stoic Studios’ Banner Saga will be getting an update on December 12th, and it is set to bring a new mode called Eternal Arena. The Eternal Arena mode was offered as a stretch goal during the game’s Kickstarter days. It will be introducing customizable maps as well as enemies for skirmish battles. It also brings weekly challenges and leaderboards. The Eternal Arena mode is currently in beta as of this report. The update will be heading to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and the Switch.
Street Fighter 5 Starts Displaying In-Game Ads
Starting December 11th, Street Fighter 5 players will see in-game ads, as Capcom announced it is introducing sponsored content to Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition. The company said they will use the ads to promote the game’s purchasable bundles, costumes, and also the Pro Tour. These sponsored content can be seen on costumes, iin some stages, and also on pre-fight loading screens. Players have the option to switch these ads off, but players will lose extra Fight Money and access to the sponsored material.
Sega’s Project Judge Heads West, Now Called “Judgement”
SEGA announced that Project Judge is heading West next year. The game has been rebranded and will be called “Judgment”and it will be released in summer of 2019. The publisher has launched a website for the game, but is still quite empty at this time, however, there’s a small PS4 logo on it, which possibly means the game will be launching exclusively for the console in the West. Project Judge is the next game from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, which is the developer for Yakuza.
Anthem’s Demo Open to Everyone on February 1st
The Anthem demo is free to play for everybody starting February 1st up until the 3rd. Announced by Bioware and EA, this will be an open demo and it is available to everyone on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you are one of those who pre-ordered the game, or was is subscribed to Origin Access, you have early access as a VIP and may start playing in the VIP demo on January 25th until the 27th. And to mark your status, you get to have a special in-game item. Anthem will launch on February 22, 2019.
The Messenger Gets New DLC, Coming in 2019
The Messenger, which launched last August 2018, is getting a new DLC called Picnic Panic. This has been announced during the Kinda Funny Game Showcase by developers Sabotage Studio. The Picnic Panic DLC will launch for PC and Switch for free, and it will come with three new levels, one of which will have you riding on a skull raft. There will be more epic boss fights added to the game as well which will arrive by 2019. In other news, The Messenger received the Best Indie Debut game in The Game Awards 2018.
Mortal Kombat 11 Announced, Full Reveal in January
Mortal Kombat 11 has been announced during The Game Awards 2018 via a trailer reveal featuring Dark Raiden and Scorpion. Developer Netherrealm described the game as having a “time-bending” story, character customizations, some new balance variations, and more. The full reveal will happen on January 17th in Los Angeles which will be live-streamed simultaneously. Mortal Kombat 11 is set to launch by April 23rd, 2019. Platforms available are PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Telltale’s The Walking Dead’s Final Season Launches January 2019
Telltale’s The Walking Dead will be launching its final season by January 15, 2019. This is the third episode for The Walking Dead Series. As we all know, Telltale Games recently closed and was only able to release the first two episodes of the series. Skybound Games stepped in and took over the game’s development and hired more than 40 people who worked in the game with the original studio. A teaser for Episode 3 called “Broken Toys” has been shared during the Kinda Funny Games Showcase.
New Strategy Game Conan Unconquered Announced
Petroglyph invites all tactical fanatics to get ready to apply their wit to a new game named Conan Unconquered. Described as a high-paced strategy game, Conan Unconquered seems to cater to those who excel under stress-induced conditions. You may play as a single player or in the online Co-op mode as you build strongholds to resist hoards of enemies while commanding your army to victory. Petroglyph estimates that the game will be ready for release late next year.
