Megatech Update – Troubleshooting Report

/ Dicembre 3, 2025/ Astroneer

We had a big launch day for the Megatech Update, which is probably appropriate given the name. Our team has been diligently looking at all the feedback coming from the community, and we have valuable information to share that we hope will be of help.

*LAST UPDATED: December 3rd, 2025 – Any changes from the original version of this report will be added in italic lettering to facilitate distinguishing new updates.

Modding Reminder

We’ve seen reports of the game crashing upon launch, and in the vast majority of cases this is because the game has been modded. We do not officially support mods, so if you have used them on any of your old saves, you are likely going to crash. We are a small team and will not be able to fix that for you, so please don’t inundate the support line with reports on modded saves.

We recommend removing all mods and starting a new save if you want to enjoy the content. Use mods at your own risk!

Platform Parity

Review the following list to verify what update version each platform is in.

  • Newest Patch – 1.36.43.0: Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and Microsoft.

  • In the case of the Nintendo Switch, the Megatech update is planned to be released for this platform by early 2026. We expect all platforms to return to parity on the same version by then.

Upcoming Fixes

In addition to our first two Hotfixes, we have a third Hotfix coming that will take a bit longer than the first two, and we have a bigger update planned for early 2026. We’ll keep this document up to date, but keep an eye on our social channels and our Discord server[discordapp.com] too for any news that we’re ready to share.

PS5 Save File Imports

We’ve seen reports of PlayStation players unable to import their PS4 save files over to the PS5 version because the import button appears to be unresponsive. One reason this can happen is related to an issue affecting players with consoles in regions outside of the Americas, for which we’re working on a fix.

Another reason this can happen is because PS4 save files that are saved in the cloud are not accessible directly on the system. If this is the case, then you can refer to this guide for step-by-step instructions[blog.astroneer.space] on how to import your save files from PS4 to PS5.

Emerging Issues

Since the release of Hotfix 1, we have continued to monitor reports coming from the community and have identified additional issues to address. The following is a list of some of these issues and some we identified prior to Hotfix 1 but weren’t included in the Hotfix.

  • We’ve received reports from Xbox players and players on the Xbox App for Windows report not getting the Megatech DLC after attempting to purchase it. This is a high-priority issue that we’re working on trying to resolve ASAP. If you’re affected by this issue, please reach out to our Support team email at https://support@systemera.net with as much info as possible, including which platform, exactly what you purchased, and what you’re seeing.

  • Some players are running into an issue where partial resource nuggets are getting stuck on Mega-Component Printers on Megastructures and becoming unremovable. To safeguard, do not move any canisters and don’t exit the game while the mega printers are running. We’re investigating this issue.

    • We have also received reports of resources getting lost when attempting to cancel a print once it has already started on a Megastructure’s Mega-Component Printer, even fully draining canisters. This isn’t intended behavior, and we’ll work on correcting this, but in the meantime try to avoid canceling any prints from your Megastructures.

  • The game can crash when attempting to donate resources from a small soil canister into the Museum’s resource donation station.

  • Xbox and Microsoft players are reporting not being able to save their progress on their save files while sitting in a seat and attempting to save and exit. We’re still actively investigating this issue.

  • Importing a PS4 save into PS5 can reduce the size of the save file and partially restore deformed terrain. This isn’t intended behavior, and we’ll be looking into correcting this.

  • It is possible in multiplayer games for an automated shuttle to create two versions of itself which can then be used to transport players and items from one to another. This issue has been dubbed ‘Quantum Entanglement Shuttles’ by the community and is not working as intended. We’ll work on correcting this.

  • Platforms no longer attach to the Unidentified Satellite, and gravity no longer works on it either. This was not an intentional change, and we’re looking into correcting this.

  • We’ve received reports of the Biodome’s Auto-Planter Mega Module ceasing to work. In the interim to a fix for this issue, it can be resolved by deactivating and reactivating the Auto-Planter.

  • Outside of the crashes caused by modding, we’ve received other crash reports that we’re currently investigating.

  • We’ve also received other reports on ongoing issues with multiplayer. We’ll continue to look into this and please continue to share your bug reports with us.

  • Some players on Xbox are finding elements of the game screen appear partially greyed out or darker than intended. Toggling off HDR should help resolve this issue.

This isn’t meant to be a comprehensive list of every issue we’ve identified, just the ones we’ve seen pop up the most and wanted to share awareness on. Check the release Patch Notes[blog.astroneer.space] for other prior Known Issues.

Other Feedback

We’ve also been seeing some feedback shared around some aspects of the Megatech Update’s game design that we are reviewing, listed here for awareness.

  • Megastructure Recipe Costs: We are watching recipe costs closely and will report back if we feel like we need to make any adjustments. While the numbers look daunting at the start, we also want them to feel somewhat challenging. Keep feedback coming about these.

  • Large Canisters Capacity: We’ve seen the feedback on the storage capacity of Large Gas Canisters and Large Fluid & Soil Canisters not being sufficient, and we agree. We’ll be increasing their capacities to be in line with the scaling of lower tiers.

Thank you to everyone for sending in their bug reports and for your patience while we work out these issues. For anyone encountering issues, please send us an email bug report to http://mailto:support@systemera.net with as much info as possible, including which platform you play on, your in-game username, and a description of the problem encountered so we can sort it all and work on it.
