Arcade1Up Bringing NBA Jam Back, Features Online Multiplayer

Arcade1Up, a company specializing in game cabinets reminiscent of those in video game arcades, has revealed that it is bringing back NBA Jam during its CES 2020 presentation. The game has free online multiplayer support, and features Tournament Edition and Hangtime. The company also revealed that its original roster will also be included, minus those that they couldn’t get the rights to. The arcade cabinet is not available for pre-order yet, but Arcade1Up is expected to announce it soon.


PS4 Has Sold 106 Million Units

PlayStation president Jim Ryan announced at Sony’s CES 2020 briefing that the PlayStation 4 has sold over 106 million units worldwide. Since the console launched back in 2013, it has also sold over 1.15 billion games in retail and in digital forms. Ryan also shared that Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service has 38.8 million paying members, and the PlayStation Network has over 103 million active users. The company will soon shift their focus on PlayStation 5.


Puzzle Game TaniNani Out This Month

Developer Kevin Andersson has announced that his level-flipping puzzle game, TaniNani, is set to launch on January 23rd on Steam. TaniNani features tiles on screen with little blob creatures inside them. The player then swaps two tiles at a time in order to change the creatures’ paths and eventually lead them to each other and pick up the gem. The game will feature 120 levels that each have special objectives when it launches.


Free Stress Test for Creature Catching Game Temtem Announced

Creature-catching MMO Temtem is having a free stress test, and it’s inviting players to join. The stress tests will run on January 11th, 17th, and 19th, and will be available for two hours each. If you’re interested to take part in the stress test, you can sign up on the game’s official website. The Temtem team will then send an email to successful testers between January 9 to 10 along with Steam keys for the test.


Dota Underlords Playerbase Down By Over 80%

Dota Underlords has reportedly lost most of its playerbase since it launched on Steam six months ago. According to Steam Charts’ data, the auto battler had a peak concurrent player count of 200,000 when it launched in June 2019, but now it merely has 15,000 players. The game’s average player count has been dropping monthly, recently hitting a little over 11,000 and with a peak of a little under 20,000. This translates to an 80% decrease in its playerbase, and 90% decrease in peak players.


Rainbow Six Pro League 11’s EU Matchday One Standings

The Rainbow Six Pro League is back with Season 11, and Playday One has concluded last January 6th. The latest standing for the EU division are as follows: Team Empire leads the pack as it won 7 to 1 against Team Vitality in the Border Map. ForZe comes in second, beating NaVi 7 to 3. G2 Esports and American team, Rogue, complete the top 4 beating BDS and Chaos respectively with 7 to 5 each. We’ll see more action when Playday 2 kicks off January 8th.


Playstation Brazil Posts 2020 Release for Overwatch 2

Playstation’s Brazilian Twitter handle has revealed that Overwatch 2 will be launching this year. The translated tweet reads, “2020 will be the year Overwatch 2 arrives on PS4.” Along with the tweet is a link to an article which was published back in November 2019. it is not clear why the Twitter account posted it. Blizzard is yet to issue a comment on this rumor.


Best CS:GO Teams to Face-Off Again in IEM Katowice 2020

One of the most anticipated eSports events has been announced, the IEM Katowice 2020. Here, the best CS:GO teams will be going head to head for the championship. Previous major winners had been invited to the event like Astralis, Vitality, Team Liquid, and Virtus Pro. There had been 10 teams revealed, and there will be an additional six slots available for squads in the open qualifiers. Teams that won events like the ESL Pro Tour were automatically invited like Fnatic and Mousesports.


Orion 13 Release Date Announced

VR game Orion13 has received its release date. MetroVR Studios has announced that the game will be launching for the HTC Vive on Steam and also on Oculus Rift headsets on February 13, 2020. Orion13 puts players in the shoes of a self-aware combat robot that believes its memory implants are its own. It features a compelling story, open locomotion and free-turn movement, first-person Inverse Kinematics, fast-paced, fluid combat, inventory system, complex puzzles, and more.


Samurai Shodown Nintendo Switch Release Date Revealed

Nintendo has revealed Samurai Shodown’s Nintendo Switch release date. The game will be launching on the Nintendo Switch on February 25th. This comes after Nintendo first announced last year it will be launching Q1 2020. This release also marks the first time it will be available for Western audiences on the Switch since it was primarily made available in Japan. Samurai Shodown is also available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.


Dreams PS4 Has Gone Gold

Media Molecule is happy to announce that its sandbox game, Dreams PS4, has gone gold! The good news was shared on Twitter along with a photo of everyone who worked on the game. The tweet also added, “We’re all set for February 14th, 2020! Thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown Dreams and Media Molecule! We’re so excited to continue this adventure with you!” Dreams is a game that lets players build their own creations ranging from music, games, animations, and a lot more.


Gray Zone to launch on Steam Early Acess on March

An upcoming RTS with RPG elements has been announced and it is called Gray Zone. The game is from Slovakia-based EastWorks Studios. Players will follow the story of a slave named Valern who has escaped. He had been rebelling against the corrupt government, and you will be leading him across different planets across the galaxy to escape. Gray Zone is set to launch on Steam Early Access by March 2020 for $19.99.


Super Mario Maker 2 Players Can Now Upload 100 Courses

Super Mario Maker 2 was able to reach an important milestone where players were able to upload 10 million courses in the game’s Course World. As a result, Nintendo was able to increase the number of courses that players are able to upload to 100 courses. Originally, players were only able to upload 32 courses, it got bumped up to 64 courses and now it is a whopping 100 courses! Super Mario Maker 2 is available on the Nintendo Switch.


Yakuza: Like a Dragon Reveals Masaru Watase’s Comeback

Some new information has been revealed for Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Yakuza 5’s Masaru Watase will be a returning character to the game and will be playing a role in the game’s main story. Also, the Puff Puff Girls are back as seen in the parody that had been revealed from the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a PlayStation 4 exclusive and is set to launch in Japan on January 16th. The game will also be available in the west later in the year.


Kemet: Blood and Sand Revised Edition Announced

A revised version of Kemet: Blood and Sand has been announced by Matagot. Kemet had been one of the highest-rated board games available. Kemet: Blood and Sand will be featuring new art, an upgraded gameplay as compared to the 1.5, a redesigned map, much bigger and better miniatures as well as “other surprises”. Right now, the game doesn’t have a concrete release date but it is sure to come out sometime this year.


Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories to Launch in April

The action-adventure game by Granzella, Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories has been reported to launch this April 7th, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in North America, Europe, and Oceania. The game offers natural hazards, limited resources, and fellow survivors that you would need to prepare for in the game. A Limited Edition is also available which you can get via preordering the game at the NISA Online Store. This edition is available for the PS4 and Switch.


League of Legends’ Wukong Rework Teased

One of League of Legend’s oldest champions Wukong will be getting a rework as announced by gameplay designer Mark Yetter. Yetter said that a new and improved monkey king can be expected soon. He did not share any specifics as to what the changes will be, but we are sure that Wukong won’t be ready in time for the launch of patch 10.1. It is believed that Wukong’s rework will completely change his identity, making him a more reliable character in the game.


Baptiste of Overwatch is Getting Tweaked

Jeff Kaplan, the director of Overwatch has agreed that the character Baptiste should get some tweaks. Kaplan has shared on Reddit that they are actively making an effort to balance Baptiste’s Immortality Field and that the changes are already being playtested. The changes were not specified, but we are happy to know that they are already in the works.


ESL and DreamHack Partners With Blizzard

Both ESL and DreamHack were able to announce their new partnership with Blizzard in order to create an ESP Pro Tour for both Starcraft 2 and Warcraft 3: Reforged. This will be available over the next three years. Also, the total prize money offered for both tournaments is $4.6 million dollars. That is about $1.8 million dollars per year with over $200,000 for the first season. The ranking will still be based on Blizzard’s format, which had already been proven.


Escape From Tarkov Won’t Be Adding Any Female Playable Characters

At some point, the hardcore looter shooter game Escape From Tarkov has been the most-watched game on Twitch. This has generated a lot of potential fans for the game. In a recent interview, the developers were asked if the game would eventually include female playable characters to which they answered, no. Battlestate Games explained that they won’t be adding any female characters because of the game’s lore as well as the huge amount of work needed for the animations and gear fitting.


God of War 2 May Have Faye as a Playable Character

God of War director has given hints about a sequel to the game with God of War 2. It looks like Kratos’ second wife will have a major role in the game, even becoming a playable character. Barlog discusses this in a video saying, “I really want to tell the story of Kratos and Faye meeting.” The character Faye had not been seen in the God of War reboot, however, her death is what sets in motion the plot of the game. The sequel has not been confirmed by Sony as of yet.


Lord of the Rings: Gollum Will Have a New Gollum Design

Daedalic Entertainment shared a few details about their upcoming game Lord of the Rings: Gollum. This will be a stealth-action game that will have Gollum as the main character. He, however, will not be the same as the originally designed character from the Peter Jackson films, but an original design in itself. The launch date for the game is set for a 2021 release date which means that this could be a cross-generation game, being available for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
