Overwatch Gives Away Five Free Winter Wonderland Loot Boxes

Blizzard is not yet done with the festivities! All Overwatch players will get five free Winter Wonderland loot boxes from now until January 2nd. You can get these loot boxes by simply logging in the game – you will see a notification that says you have five loot boxes to open. The boxes are part of the Overwatch Winter Wonderland event, and these contain rare skins such as Junkrat’s Krampus look which costs 3,000 gold if you don’t get it from the free box. Also included are sprays, emotes, and victory lines.


Escape From Tarkov Beta Patch Coming Soon

Online first-person shooter Escape from Tarkov is currently in Closed Beta, and Battlestate Games announced that it is receiving an update. Update 0.11 will be rolling out in a yet-to-be announced date, and it will bring a slew of new features, the new enemy type Scav Raiders, the brand new TerraGroup Labs map, and tons of new items. The game is currently in Closed Beta, and if you want to try it out, you simply need to pre-order the game. The full patch notes are available on the game’s website.


Elder Scrolls to Release a Cookbook

Ever thought what the food of some games would taste like in real life? For Elder Scrolls, you would actually have a chance to cook and eat what they are eating in the continent of Tamriel. The author of the book is Chelsea Monroe-Cassel. She is also behind the Game of Thrones and Warcraft cookbooks. There are reportedly sixty plus recipes in the cookbook which will include the Apple Cabbage Stew as well as the Sweetrolls. According to Destructoid, the book will be available by March 2019.


Microtransactions Coming to Battlefield 5, Leak Suggests

It appears like EA and DICE are trying to boost Battlefield 5’s revenue after the game suffers from low sales. A Reddit user who goes by the name spanky088 posted a screenshot of a listing for Battlefield 5 – 6,000 Battlefield Currency for Xbox One. The listing also shows that this will be available starting January 18, 2019. This suggests that microtransactions will be coming to the game, although EA and DICE won’t be offering loot boxes.


Banned Fallout 76 Players May Get Accounts Reinstated By Writing an Essay

Bethesda has been banning suspected cheaters in the game Fallout 76. The cheaters were said to have been using third-party programs in order to get unfair advantages in-game. The said cheaters’ accounts get permanently banned but can be appealed by writing an essay explaining “why the use of third-party cheat software” damages the ecosystem of a game. The ban has been met with some criticism as some are only using third party software for graphical touch-ups and the like and are not cheating.


Rockstar Releases GTA Online 2018 Festive Calendar

Rockstar has revealed GTA Online’s 2018 Festive Calendar which contains the lowdown on what’s in store for players this holiday season. Players will receive gifts each time they log in from December 25th until January 1st. Those who logged in on Christmas Day, December 25th, received the festively adorned Vapid Clique, Up-n-Atomizer Pistol, Liveries for Chernobog, the Slasher Festive Sweater, and so many explosives. Rockstar is also offering discounts on selected properties and vehicles until January 7th.


Massive Watch Dogs Mod Adds New Features, Custom Missions, and Random Events

Watch Dogs received a new mod called Living_City all thanks to developer The_Silver. This new mod is focused on improving several aspects of the game instead of just changing its graphics. This mod has been fourteen months in the making and is 82.93 mb in size. The changes included are Restricted_Areas, Unlocked_Interiors, Random_Events, Civilain_Hacks, Ambush_Chance, Custom_Missions, Replace_Scan, CTOS_Chaos, First_Load, and Limited_Inventory. It also comes with a series of small tweaks and fixes for the game.


Dark Fantasy FPS Witchfire Might Release in 2020

The Astronauts’ dark fantasy shooter Witchfire won’t be released anytime soon. The studio is looking at releasing the game in 2020, saying the target release year “sounds reasonable.” Witchfire focuses on challenge and mystery and is not a story-based game according to the devs. Players won’t be encountering cutscenes in the game. The game is still a work in progress, and as of this report, the devs have already started work on guns, enemies, maps, and its core AI.


Close Your Eyes Remake Launches on Steam Early Access

The horror title Close Your Eyes is now available on Steam Early Access with a discounted price of $4.49. The game was originally launched five years ago as part of a Ludum Dare game jam. After that stint, it became available on Steam. Now, to commemorate the game’s anniversary, a remake had been launched on Steam’s Early Access and it comes with an extended story, new locations, a new difficulty option as well as additional new modes that are planned to be released in the future.


Sniper Elite V2 Remastered Leaked

The Sniper Elite V2 Remastered has been leaked by the Australian Classification Board. The game is said to be available on multiple platforms and contains strong violence, some mild language, and very mild nudity. The rating also stated that the gaming experience of players may change online. The game will be developed by Rebellion and published by 505 Games. The original Sniper Elite V2 launched in 2005. Other than what is leaked by the Classification Board, nothing much is known about the remaster of the game.


ATLAS Receives Mostly Negative Reviews

After numerous delays on its Early Access release, eager players of the MMO ATLAS were finally able to give the game a go. However, just one day after its Early Access launch, the game has already received Mostly Negative reviews on Steam, scoring a rating of 5 out of 10 as of this report. Steam has also issued refunds to angry players. Players of the game call it a “cheap reskin of ARK,” with some even saying it functions as some sort of a DLC for ARK: Survival Evolved.


Rainbow Six Siege Players Get Free Operator for the Holidays

Rainbow Six Siege has something special for you for the holidays! All you would need to do is login to the game after the most recent update and you can get a special “Holiday Pack”. The pack will include a free Operator that is not available in your roster. If you already have them all, you will get 25,000 Renown instead. Next Smash Bros Ultimate In-game Event Announced

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is getting a new Spirit event, Nintendo announced. The event is called “Oh Yeah! Mario Time!” and it starts December 27th at 10 PM PT or December 28 6 AM GMT. This will only run up until January 1, 2019. This will come with an assortment of Mario Spirits like Pauline and Dry Bowser which are both Legend-class. Defeating these spirits will also grant you additional Gold. Also included are some Super Mario Party Spirits like Dice Block, River Survival and Golden Dash Mushroom.


Rocket League-Like Mode Now Available in GTA Online

Rockstar has added their own take on the Rocket League formula to GTA Online as part of the Arena War update. A new mode called Bomb Ball emulates the exciting car soccer competition but with an explosive twist. The goal is to get explosive balls into the opposing team’s half of the arena before they go off. Bomb Ball is one of seven Arena War modes that came with the update. These range from capture the flag matches to destruction derby races and one-on-one deathmatches.


K/DA’s “Pop/Stars” Joins Rhythm VR Game Beat Saber

Pop/Stars from League of Legends’ pop group K/DA, which was first seen during the World 2018 celebration, has made its way to the virtual reality game Beat Saber. If you are not familiar with Beat Saber, it is a rhythm game where you get to slash blocks flying your way with your sabers. The boxes will match the beat or rhythm of the song playing. Pop/Stars is available as a free download for the game; it has its custom map, a special difficulty level, and its video features Akali, Ahri, Kai’Sa and Evelynn.


Twitch Prime Members Get Hotline Miami, Broforce and The Messenger for Free

Twitch is sending some holiday cheer to Twitch Prime members by giving away a total of fifteen games. This started earlier this month with games including Smoke and Sacrifice, Hacknet, Poi, and the SNK Bundle. These can be claimed until the end of the month. Then, a collection of Devolver Digital titles became available last week. These include the two Hotline Miami games, Broforce, Strafe, The Swords of Ditto, Crossing Souls and The Messenger, all of which can be claimed until the end of January.


Former League of Legends World Champion Ambition Retires

League of Legends former World Champion Kang ‘Ambition’ Chan-yong has announced his retirement after six years in the competitive scene. Ambition is best remembered for his team’s historic win over SK Telecom T1 in 2017. The win was even adapted into this year’s Worlds Song, Rise, with Ambition featured as the main character in the music video. Although most retiring players transition into coaching roles, Ambition says he won’t be doing so for now as he’ll be concentrating on growing his streaming career.


Pixel-Painted Adventure RPG Koruldia Heritage Scheduled for Release in 2020

A new story-driven nonlinear dungeon game called Koruldia Heritage is scheduled to launch by 2020. This is somewhat a solo project as only Iriekoru and her boyfriend are the only ones making the game. The game offers a hand-drawn pixel art role-playing game. Both had been working on this for about 8 years now. The environment and character art are all drawn with incredible detail. The game is meant for PC with an eventual release for both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.


Latest Dead Cells Patch Lets Players Set Up Custom Runs

The latest Dead Cells patch will allow players control over some of the otherwise RNG elements of the game. The 1.1 update from developers Motion Twin will let players go through customized runs where they can choose their starting equipment and decide which items show up in shops and chests. Players will also be able to unlock and relock unlockable items. The update also comes will several fixes, item balance changes, a rebuilt cooldown reduction mechanic, and a general rebalance of the game’s difficulty.


Black Ops 4 Rolls Out Update with New Camo and Skin

A new update is coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and it is the Black Market update. The update did come with normal calling cards, reticles, and the like but the two items that caught our attention the most is the new Blackout character as well as a new camo for the assault rifles. The new character is the Ultimus version of Takeo Masaki which is available for 800 COD points. The other thing is the Cipher Reactive Camo which is a truly unique camo that you would have to see with your very own eyes.


Kill la Kill the Game: IF Story and Battle Mode Details Revealed

Arc System Works has revealed more information on the story and battle modes for Kill la Kill the Game: IF. The story mode will have players taking control of Satsuki Kiryuin in an alternate story that branches off from the anime’s 8th episode. In the game, Ragyo shows up instead of Nui at the end of Honnouji Academy’s Naturals Election, triggering different events written under the supervision of original Kill la Kill scenario writer, Kazuki Nakashima. The game will also feature different battle modes ranging from tutorial to different challenge modes.


Steep and Portal Knights Included in PS Plus January 2019 Lineup

The PlayStation Plus January 2019 games lineup has been revealed by Sony and it includes Steep and Portal Knights. Steep is a massive open world where players can explore the snowy Alps on skis, wingsuits, snowboards, and paragliders. Portal Knights, on the other hand, will bring you to randomly generated islands where you can level up your character, craft weapons and kill your enemies. The game is a real-time cooperative, 3D sandbox action RPG. The two free games are only available for January 2019.
