Yooka-Laylee Celebrates 1 Million Players

Playtonic has hit a milestone as their game Yooka-Laylee reached more than a million players worldwide. The good news was shared through the studio’s official Twitter account. Yooka-Laylee launched over a year ago and the 3D platformer genre now has a 64-bit mode. Also, the game’s main characters have been added to Brawlout. No news is available if the game would have a sequel, but fans can look forward to the graphic novel Yooka-Laylee and the Kracklestone.


Old-School FPS Prodeus to Release in 2019

Good news for all you old-school FPS fans out there as Mike Voelle and Jason Mojica are working on Prodeus, which is a first-person shooter that was reimagined using some modern rendering techniques. The aim of the game is to have a triple-A experience while also having the technical limits of older hardware aesthetically. The game offers top visual effects, so much blood, an impressive dismemberment system, fast-paced action, a dynamic soundtrack, heavy-duty weapons, destruction and secrets to uncover.


Crackdown 3’s Battle Royale is Small in Scale Due to Memory Limitations

Crackdown 3 won’t be getting any large scale modes due to memory limitations, said Head of Production for Global Publishing at Microsoft, Jorg Neumann. He further explained that they were able to prototype a bunch of modes but they would have to consider the size of memory available. Of course, they are still in testing stages and they do hope that the tech will be evolving too. Crackdown 3 is set to launch on February 15, and will be available for Windows PC and Xbox One via the Xbox Game Pass.


Darksiders 3 Introduces Fury’s Horse in New Trailer

THQ Nordic recently released a new trailer for Darksiders 3, and this time it features Fury’s mighty steed, Rampage. Backed by the classic American hit “A Horse With No Name,” the trailer also shows off some stunning visuals set in a desert, which also possibly hints at more open environments in the game. Previously released trailers show Fury in locations such as catacombs and corridors, so it’s interesting that THQ decided to showcase a new environment this time. Darksiders 3 will be available starting November 27th.


God of War is Among Black Friday Top-Sellers Online

God of War emerged as one of the top-selling games at Black Friday, according to data released by Adobe Insights. The game ranked at number 5. Another video game, Pokémon Let’s Go, also made it to the list, and outranks God of War as it sits in the fourth spot. Both are the only games included in the top 5, and the numbers represent online sales. Adobe Insights also cited Thanksgiving sales where Red Dead Redemption 2 is at number 4, and the Nintendo Switch as top-selling item during Thanksgiving.


Darksiders 3’s PS4 File Size Revealed

The file size for Darksiders 3 on the PlayStation 4 has been revealed! The game’s product page shows that it will take up to 20.25 GB of free space on the console’s hard disk drive. The game will also be getting a physical disc version aside from it being available on digital download. Darksiders 3 is also heading to PC and the Xbox One on November 27th.


Fallout 76 Price Has Significantly Decreased

There is a huge price reduction going on for Fallout 76 happening right now. Reviews of the game had been brutal, having just an average of 50 for both Opencritic and Metacritic. Because of the game’s not-so-good reception, a significant price cut has been done almost reaching 50 percent off in some stores. This huge price cut is a mystery since the game just released on November 14th. Those who purchased the game early at the full price will surely be left with a bad impression.


Hitman 2 Easter Egg Lets Agent 47 Escape on a Dolphin

Another Easter egg has been discovered in Hitman 2, just a few weeks after it officially launched. A Youtuber who goes by the name Martinoz uploaded a video in his channel where he shows Agent 47 riding a dolphin as he escapes after taking down his targets. According to Martinoz, in order to do this, players have to complete the Miami mission by following a series of steps he showcased in his video. Hitman 2 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.


Splatoon 2 Gets 8 New Weapons and More in Final Update

The last content update for Nintendo’s Splatoon 2 will be coming in just a few weeks and it is called the update 4.3.0. It will come with some new content plus new weapons and exciting abilities. There will be 8 new items, four of which are the Ballpoint Splating Nouveau, Nautilus 79, Custom Explosher, and Bloblobber Deco. The other four will be announced soon. The two new abilities are Bomb Defense Up and Main Power Up. This last update content will be arriving on December 8, 2018.


Sega Genesis Classics Heading to Switch

SEGA announced on Twitter that SEGA Genesis Classics will be heading to the Nintendo Switch! The collection will launch on December 7th and includes “over 50 retro favorites in one package.” Games included are Galaxy Force 2, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, Virtua Fighter 2 , Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, the Streets of Rage series, and Sonic the Hedgehog.


The Council Concludes December 4th

The final episode of The Council is launching next month, and this will conclude the game’s story. Developer Cyanide Studios said that the fifth episode is called Checkmate and it will “bring all your decisions, mistakes, and victories to the fore as Louis’ alliances, enemies, and family all come together for a climactic confrontation. Who will win, and can the De Richets survive the island in the end?” Those who have the Season Pass can play on December 4th, while everyone else on December 6th.

Yakuza Kiwami Might Be Coming to PC Soon

At this year’s E3, SEGA announced that Yakuza Kiwami is coming to PC. Though a release date is unconfirmed, steam updates and added achievements suggest that the release date draws near. Twitter user Andrew Marmo posted a screenshot of the Steam updates in a tweet which has been circulating various news outlets. Yakuza Kiwami is an updated version of the first Yakuza game. It is foretold that remastered versions of Yakuza 3-5 will be coming to PS4, and will possibly get PC ports too.


Sony to Stream the Playstation Awards 2018 in English on YouTube

Sony will be streaming the Playstation Awards 2018 on YouTube for all audiences around the world. The event is set to honor titles released on the console in Japan and Asia between October 1st last year to September 30th this year. The stream will be available in both Japanese and English, so western fans will be able to enjoy the program as well. The event will be held at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Tanakawa Kunlun on December 3rd, 5PM local time or 8AM in the UK. The stream will commence at that time too.


Tech Performance was an ‘Absolute Priority’ during Just Cause 4’s Development

With all the chaos and destruction going on in the Just Cause series, it seems fitting that these games have been notorious for technical and performance issues. Square Enix is looking to change that with Just Cause 4, saying that tech performance has been their absolute priority since they started the project. The game is also set to support Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling technology which should undoubtedly boost performance while delivering higher resolution frames for those using a GPU from Nvidia’s RTX line.


New Anthem Screenshots Posted on Twitter

A couple of BioWare developers shared new screenshots for Anthem over the weekend. Tyler Steinbring from the QA team posted an image of a cave while Senior Level Designer Emily Taylor showed off two new enemies in two separate screenshots. Taylor also said that Scars won’t be the only enemies players will encounter in-game. She added that several quests will have minimal to no Scar involvement. She ended with saying that they didn’t want to spoil all the surprises.


Platformer Incredible Mandy Out Now on Steam

Dotoyou’s dreamy platformer called Incredible Mandy is now live on Steam. The game follows the adventures of Mandy and her brother in the dream world as they work to unlock their memories after a tragic accident. Mandy’s brother lost his left hand in this accident but can manifest the ‘Excalibur of Light’ in its place while in the dream world. A demo has also been released for those who want to learn more about the game before buying. However, due to content and order differences, your progress in the demo won’t carry over to the full game.


Red Dead Online Beta Test Kicks Off Today

The Red Dead Online beta test kicks off today. Owners of the Ultimate Edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 get a full day of early access starting November 27th. Those who played the game on launch day will get access starting November 28th, while those who played between launch day and October 29th will get access starting November 29th. Finally, the beta test fully opens its doors to all Red Dead Redemption 2 owners come November 30th. The beta is available on both Xbox One and PS4.


City Patrol Police Coming Out of Early Access this Week

City Patrol Police is finally coming out of Early Access after half a year and is set to fully launch on November 29th. The game puts players behind the wheel of different patrol cars as they patrol the city and take care of any threats. The game comes with a full campaign where players will be able to unlock new vehicles. There’s also a racing mode with 15 tracks for those who feel the need to burn rubber. Console versions of the game are set to launch this coming spring.


Gran Turismo Sport Gets Seven New Cars in December Update

Gran Turismo Sport producer Kazunori Yamauchi teased seven new cars coming in the game’s next update on December 5th. Yamauchi, in his usual fashion, posted an image with obscured silhouettes of the cars. Fans have however recognized a few of them, including the Ferrari F50, the McLaren P1 GTS, and the Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am. The game had a disappointing launch with the absence of a single-player campaign and the lack of content, but Polyphony Digital has been constantly pushing updates and delivered fan requests.


Fortnite’s Pump Shotgun Gets Epic and Legendary Variants

Fortnite Design Lead Eric Williamson revealed on Twitter that the upcoming 6.31 update will include improvements to the Pump Shotgun’s effectiveness. This means that the weapon’s range will be reduced slightly but close quarters damage will be increased. Additionally, he said that all shotguns will have a minimum damage of 3 pellets when the update rolls out, even if less than 3 pellets hit the target. This makes the blue pump a very, very dangerous weapon now.


Overkill’s The Walking Dead Not Getting Enough Sales

Overkill’s The Walking Dead released just earlier this month, and Overkill has reported that the game has not met their sales expectations. Because of this, the studio is now reducing costs because of the high financial risks they took for the game by recently starting a program to “review operations.” Starbreeze Chairman Michael Hjorth still feels positive, as the game still has concurrent players, which he says is important to the game’s future.


Demon’s Souls Return to Boletaria Event Now Live

If you missed playing Demon’s Souls with other players, here’s one event you’ll definitely like! Currently happening is another Demon’s Souls Return to Boletaria event and it runs until December 7th. The event is available on Yuvi’s Private Server. Full instructions on how to join are available in the game’s subreddit. The post on Reddit also says that “the server tendency will be fully neutral for these two weeks” and encourages both single-player exploration and online multiplayer.
